• Design, construction, and optimization of a newly-patented Compton scatter camera for medical imaging.

• Development of a new class of ultra-sensitive radiation detectors based on a novel technique for concentrating heavy noble gases (krypton, xenon, and radon).

• Development of large volume CdZnTe gamma-ray spectroscopy detectors for NASA planetary missions.

• Application of long-range alpha detection (LRAD) technology to monitor whole-body alpha contamination.

• Development of new methodologies for radiation transport computations.

• Design and fabrication of new anthropometric calibration phantoms for in vivo measurement of trace elements in the body.

• Monitoring and evaluation of radon released from large quantities of radium contained in an outdoor storage silo.

• Analysis of in vitro solubility of airborne particles of uranium, thorium, and plutonium in simulated lung fluid.

• Analysis of the leachability of radioactive contamination in soil with time using accelerated aging techniques.
