What
Are You Going To Do Next Year?!?
If
you are considering Graduate School, consider the exciting opportunities
at the
University
of Cincinnati!!!
We are
currently accepting applications for graduate studies in Nuclear Engineering,
Radiological Engineering and Health Physics. And
we have money too!!!
Our attractive
financial aid packages include a tuition
and fee waiver and stipends of $1100
to $1500 per month.
In addition,
you will be exposed to state-of-the-art research (see below for
details) and a stimulating learning environment.
For more
information contact the UC NRE Graduate Studies Director Dr. Henry Spitz
at (513)556-2003(phone) or Henry.Spitz@uc.edu(e-mail).
Research
Opportunities
in
Nuclear
& Radiological Engineering
and
Health Physics
-
Development
and implementation of a unique equipment monitoring technique that has
potential for multi-million dollar savings in reduced nuclear power reactor
operations and maintenance costs.
-
Design, construction,
and optimization of a newly-patented Compton scatter camera for medical
imaging.
-
Development
of a new class of ultra-sensitive radiation detectors based on a novel
technique for concentrating heavy noble gases (krypton, xenon, and radon).
-
Development
of large volume CdZnTe gamma-ray spectroscopy detectors for NASA planetary
missions.
-
Application
of long-range alpha detection (LRAD) technology to monitor whole-body alpha
contamination.
-
Development
of new methodologies for radiation transport computations.
-
Design and
fabrication of new anthropometric calibration phantoms for in vivo measurement
of trace elements in the body.
-
Monitoring
and evaluation of radon released from large quantities of radium contained
in an outdoor storage silo.
-
Analysis of
in vitro solubility of airborne particles of uranium, thorium, and plutonium
in simulated lung fluid.
-
Analysis of
the leachability of radioactive contamination in soil with time using accelerated
aging techniques.
